Fat-reducing and anti-cellulite treatments

Cellulite and localised fat rarely respond to a single technique. At Alta Armonía they are treated with combined protocols designed during a medical assessment according to what predominates in each case: the circulatory component, fat accumulation or skin laxity. Available in El Albir.

Why cellulite needs a plan and not a one-off treatment

Different situations live under the word «cellulite». In some cases the dominant factor is circulatory stagnation and fluid retention, and the skin improves as soon as drainage is mobilised. In others, what predominates is a fat deposit that distorts the contour. And in many, particularly from a certain age or after weight changes, the main problem is laxity of the supporting tissue.

Each of those scenarios responds better to a different technique, and most real cases combine several factors at once. That is why the starting point is not choosing a machine, but examining the area and establishing what weighs most. That is the purpose of the prior medical assessment: to define the plan before starting.

From there, the protocol can draw on the different techniques available at the centre. When fluid retention is what weighs most, the work is aimed at drainage, with pressotherapy y manual lymphatic drainage using the Renata França method. If localised fat is what dominates, Vanquish and carboxytherapycome into play. When the main factor is tissue laxity, body tightening is worked with Exilis. And in cases where the injected route is chosen, body mesotherapy makes it possible to act directly on the tissue.

None of these techniques is interchangeable with the others, and none responds the same way in every case. Which combination is appropriate, in what order and with what schedule of sessions is decided at the first consultation, within the group of body aesthetic medicine treatments at Alta Armonía in El Albir.

The three profiles most often confused

Retention predominates. Heavy legs at the end of the day, swelling that changes with the heat, the mark of a sock. Here the work is circulatory: pressotherapy y manual lymphatic drainage. Tackling this as though it were fat gives no result.

Fat accumulation predominates. Specific areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. This is where Vanquish or body mesotherapy.

Laxity predominates. The skin has lost tone, sometimes after weight loss or a pregnancy. The aim is to firm, and that is what Exilis.

What is usual is not a pure profile, but two coexisting. Hence the plan combines techniques, and the order matters as much as the choice.

What this treatment is not

It is worth saying plainly: this is not a weight-loss treatment. It works on contour, tissue quality, retention and firmness. It does not replace weight loss or habits of diet and physical activity, and without those the result holds up less well.

Nor does it eliminate cellulite permanently: cellulite has a structural and hormonal component that does not disappear. What can be done is to improve its appearance and maintain that with a follow-up plan.

Results depend on each patient’s individual characteristics and cannot be guaranteed. We would rather explain that at the assessment than promise it on a web page.

Behind every treatment there is a particular team and particular premises: you can get to know them on the page about the clinic.

How the protocol is built at Alta Armonía

The medical assessment examines the area and establishes which component predominates — circulatory, fatty or laxity — before proposing any technique.

The plan can integrate several of the techniques available at the centre, with a defined order and defined intervals, rather than piling up sessions with no sequence.

Results on the body are cumulative. The plan is set out as a cycle with reviews along the way to adjust whatever is needed.

The whole process, from the initial assessment to the follow-up, is carried out under the supervision of qualified healthcare staff.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

There is no best one in the abstract: there is one indicated for each case. It depends on whether fluid retention, fat accumulation or laxity predominates, and the best result usually comes from combining several techniques with judgement.

Body treatments work cumulatively, so they are always planned in cycles. The number depends on the area, the starting point and the techniques the plan includes, and it is set at the initial assessment.

Cellulite is a condition of the tissue with a structural and hormonal component, and the realistic aim of these protocols is to improve its appearance and the contour of the area, not to eliminate it. In consultation we explain what result can be expected in each case.

It helps a great deal. Hydration, regular physical activity and avoiding long periods in the same position sustain the result of the treatment over time.

It is not decided from symptoms read online. At the assessment we establish what predominates in your case — retention, fat or laxity — and the whole of the subsequent choice depends on that answer. It is the step that most determines the result.

No. These protocols work on contour, retention and firmness, which are different things from body weight. If the aim is to lose weight, this is not the route, and we say so in consultation.

Cellulite has a component that does not disappear, so the sensible thing is to plan for maintenance rather than expect a permanent result. The maintenance schedule is set at the end of the initial protocol, according to how each case has responded.
